The Memphis Hustle earned its second straight road win with a 128-121 effort against the Salt Lake City Stars Wednesday at Lifetime Activities Center. The Hustle won the regular season series between the clubs 2-1.
Memphis led for the majority of the first half, but Salt Lake City clawed their way back from an early nine-point deficit to take a 66-65 lead into halftime. The Stars stretched the lead to 13 with 6:07 remaining in the third quarter. However, the Hustle would outscore the Stars 40-13 over the next 11:20 to regain a 14-point lead.
For the second straight game, eight of nine available Hustle players reached double figures, with Jordon Crawford finishing just shy at nine points. Marquis Teague led the Memphis scoring effort with 23 points (3-5 3P). Trahson Burrell (18 points, 11 rebounds) earned his second straight double-double and sixth of the season to go with six assists. Durand Scott continued his productivity, pouring in 16 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists.
Chance Comanche (14 points, seven rebounds) has now scored 14-or-more in five of his last six games. Omari Johnson (14 points), Austin Nichols (12 points), Dusty Hannahs (11 points) and Shaquille Thomas (11 points) also reached double digits.
Jazz assignee Tony Bradley had a huge night for the Stars, posting 25 points and 17 rebounds (nine offensive). Deonte Burton scored 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Erik McCree (19 points, nine rebounds) fell one rebound shy of a double-double. Michael Qualls contributed 19 points and six rebounds off the bench for Salt Lake City.
The Memphis Hustle will complete a three-game road trip tomorrow at 9 p.m. CT against the Reno Bighorns at Reno Events Center. The squad returns home for a New Years Eve matinee tip at 1 p.m. against the Northern Arizona Suns. To celebrate the new year, up to two kids 12-and-under will receive free entry per paid adult.
