The Memphis Hustle lost to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 157-134 Saturday at State Farm Arena. Memphis has now lost three consecutive games and the Vipers lead the regular season series 3-0. Rio Grande Valley’s 157 points mark a season-high for any NBA G League team.
Rio Grande Valley took control of the game with a 50-point second quarter that gave them an 83-57 lead at halftime. The Vipers shot 19-of-30 (.633) from the field and knocked down 5-of-8 three-pointers (.625) in the period.
Jordon Crawford had a season-high 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting to go with seven assists. Chance Comanche also recorded a season-high 22 points and shot 7-of-10 from the field. Vince Hunter (18 points, 10 rebounds) recorded his fourth straight double-double. Additionally, Shaquille Thomas posted a season-high of 15 points. Trahson Burrell (13 points), Marquis Teague (11 points) and Austin Nichols (10 points) also scored in double digits.
Rio Grande Valley had six players score at least 19 points. Demetrius Jackson led the attack with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Monte Morris (19 points, 13 assists) and Tyler Lydon (13 points, 11 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles. Tony Wroten and Zhou Qi scored 21 points apiece while Qi fell one rebound shy of a double-double. Isaiah Hartenstein (20 points) and RJ Hunter (19 points) also scored in double figures.
The Hustle return to action at NBA G League Showcase 2018 with a matchup against the Lakeland Magic at Hershey Centre at 7:30 p.m. CT on NBA TV.
