The Memphis Hustle concluded its road trip by dropping a 125-102 decision against the Sioux Falls Skyforce Tuesday at Sanford Pentagon. The loss marked the fourth straight defeat for Memphis and moves the regular season series to 2-1 in favor of Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls raced out to an early 12-point lead in the opening period before the Hustle clawed its way back and tied the game twice in the second quarter. The Skyforce then took control of the game before leading by as many as 29. Memphis struggled offensively in the second half, shooting just 33.3 percent (16-of-48) from the field and 17.6 percent (3-of-17) from the three-point line.
Marquis Teague led the Hustle in scoring for the eighth time this season, scoring 15 of his 24 points in the first quarter and dishing out seven assists. Omari Johnson (20 points) reached the 20-point plateau for the seventh time this season. Grizzlies assignee Brice Johnson (17 points, 12 rebounds) posted a double-double in his second appearance with the Hustle.
The Skyforce had seven players in double figures, including six with 15-or-more points. Derrick Walton Jr. led the scoring effort with 22 points to go with nine assists. Derrick Jones Jr. added a near double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Kadeem Jack (18 points, 12 rebounds) and Briante Weber (15 points, 10 assists) each posted double-doubles. Larry Drew II (16 points), Matt Williams Jr. (15 points) and Tony Mitchell (12 points) also hit double figures.
