Cyprien faces off against former colleague Stan Heath

The Memphis Hustle wrapped up their 2017 Training Camp, presented by Select Physical Therapy, and are headed to the Sunshine State for their lone preseason matchup on Monday against the Lakeland Magic.

Grizzlies’ players Deyonta Davis and Ivan Rabb joined the Hustle on assignment for Saturday’s final camp practice alongside two-way players Kobi Simmons and Vince Hunter. Rabb is expected to join the Hustle for Monday’s matchup.

Hustle coach Glynn Cyprien wants to see his guards are organized in running the offense.

“I want our guards to be leaders, our point guards,” Cyprien said. I’ve talked a lot to Kobi (Simmons), Marquis Teague and Jordon Crawford about making sure we are in the right spots on the floor and being leaders on the floor. I’m curious to see how well we play in a controlled setting with referees. So in the same token I’m excited for these guys because they need to see and play against other guys.”

Cyprien will look at the opposing bench Monday and see an old colleague in Lakeland Magic coach Stan Heath, whom Cyprien coached with at Arkansas during the 2006-07 season. Cyprien also expects to see a talented team that is more than capable of executing well on both ends.

“From what I know, they’re very talented,” Cyprien said of the Magic. “They’ve got good shooting. I know Stan Heath; we were on the same staff at Arkansas. He’s a good coach, so I know they will be well-coached and I know they will play hard.”

Monday’s preseason matchup against the Magic at RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Fla. will tip-off at 6 p.m. CT and will not be broadcast live. For game coverage, follow @memphishustle on Twitter and Instagram and check MemphisHustle.com for updates.
