The Memphis Hustle finished its three-game road trip at 2-1 with a 133-104 loss against the Reno Bighorns on the second night of a back-to-back Thursday at Reno Events Center. Memphis jumped out to an early 17-12 lead, but a 33-14 run over a 9:33 span gave Reno a 14-point lead they would not relinquish.
Reno turned the ball over just 10 times to Memphis’ 25, a season-high for the Hustle, and held a 29-11 advantage in points off turnovers. Additionally, Reno held a 72-50 scoring edge in the paint.
Jordon Crawford led the Hustle in scoring for the first time this season with a season-high 21 points off the bench. Marquis Teague (20 points) scored 20-or-more for the second straight night to go with a team-high eight assists. Grizzlies assignee Ivan Rabb chipped in 17 points and seven rebounds. Vince Hunter (14 points, nine rebounds) and Austin Nichols (17 points, nine rebounds) fell one rebound shy of double-doubles.
Jack Cooley led the charge for the Bighorns with 28 points and 10 rebounds on 13-of-19 shooting. Aaron Harrison scored 22 points (6-9 3P) off the bench. Cody Demps (14 points, 11 rebounds) also contributed a double-double and Marcus Williams dished a game-high 10 assists.
The Hustle return home for a New Years Eve matinee tip at 1 p.m. against the Northern Arizona Suns. To celebrate the new year, up to two kids 12-and-under will receive free entry per paid adult.
