The Memphis Hustle lost its lone preseason matchup against the Lakeland Magic 103-92 Monday at RP Funding Center. Ivan Rabb and Omari Johnson led the team with 15 points apiece.
Rabb, who scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half, got things off on the right foot for the Hustle, scoring (5) or assisting on the Hustle’s first seven points to take an early 7-2 lead. Later in the first quarter, Dusty Hannahs and Omari Johnson connected on consecutive threes to put the Hustle up 20-11. Memphis led 26-18 after the first period.
Lakeland would recover in the second quarter, closing the half on a 20-10 spurt to take a 55-52 lead at halftime and would conserve the lead for good.
Kobi Simmons would score eight of his 11 points in the quarter. Vince Hunter (11 points) reached double figures despite battling foul trouble throughout. Hannahs chipped in 10 points, including a couple of three-pointers.
Fans will get their first look at the Hustle during opening weekend at Landers Center when the team takes on the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Saturday, November 4 at 7 p.m. The following day, the team will matchup with the Salt Lake City Stars at 5 p.m.
