Memphis Hustle snap three-game skid with Christmas Day rout of Sioux Falls

Hustle set NBA G League season-high, multiple team season highs in blistering first half

The Memphis Hustle snapped its three-game losing streak with a 131-115 win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Christmas Day at Sanford Pentagon, marking the team’s second largest margin of victory this season. The Hustle led by as many as 30, its largest of the season.’

The Hustle’s blistering first half featured 79 points, a season-high in a half for any NBA G League team (prev. 77, Texas at Rio Grande Valley, 12/21), team season highs in field goal percentage (.673) and field goals made (33) and tied a season-high for assists in one half (17). Additionally, the Hustle outscored Sioux Falls in the paint 52-20 and had nearly twice as many assists (Sioux Falls: nine).

For the game, the Hustle held an 86-40 advantage in points in the paint, tying a season-high for points in the paint (vs. Rio Grande Valley on 11/10). Both teams committed 17 turnovers, but Memphis turned their opportunities into twice as many points (24-12).

A season-high eight Hustle players out of nine scored in double figures with Durand Scott recording a season-high 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go with five rebounds and five assists. Chance Comanche scored a career-high 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting. Comanche has now scored 14-or-more in four of his last five games.Dusty Hannahs chipped in with 17 points (3-5 3P) while Trahson Burrell (14 points, 11 rebounds) recorded his fifth double-double of the season to go with seven assists and five steals.

Omari Johnson (13 points), Austin Nichols (11 points), Marquis Teague (11 points) and Shaquille Thomas (11 points) also scored in double figures for Memphis. Jordon Crawford scored nine points to go with a career-high six rebounds and six assists.

Sioux Falls had just four players in double figures, but three scored 20-or-more. Rodney Pryor led Sioux Falls with 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting (4-6 3P) off the bench.Tony Mitchell posted 24 points (5-10 3P). Ike Nwamu poured in 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Larry Drew II posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists.

The Hustle will continue its three-game road trip with its third meeting of the year with the Salt Lake City Stars at 8 p.m. CT at Lifetime Activities Center. The squad returns home for a New Years Eve matinee tip at 1 p.m. against the Northern Arizona Suns. To celebrate the new year, up to two kids 12-and-under will receive free entry per paid adult.
