Clippers defeat Hustle 126-119 to start two-game set

The Memphis Hustle (2-6), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, were defeated 126-119 by the Ontario Clippers (3-4) in the first of a two-game set at Landers Center.
Matthew Hurt led the Hustle in scoring with 28 points. DeJon Jarreau set career highs with 25 points and 12 assists with just one turnover. Davon Reed contributed 15 points and three steals. Lucas Williamson tallied 14 points. Timmy Allen totaled 13 points. Cameron McGriff added 11 points off the bench.
On assignment from the Clippers, Kobe Brown led Ontario with a triple-double, totaling 19 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Two-way transfer Jordan Miller scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Armoni Brooks added 22 points off the bench. Clippers assignee Joshua Primo scored 12 points.
Ontario scored 17 straight points in the fourth quarter to take their largest lead of the game at 14. Memphis responded with a 13-3 run to cut the deficit to 4 with 1:41 remaining in the game. Brooks responded with a 3-pointer to extend the lead for Ontario who pulled away with the win.
Memphis outscored the Clippers 14-3 in fast break points. Ontario outrebounded Memphis 51-33 and outscored the Hustle 18-15 in second chance points. The Clippers scored 17 points off Hustle turnovers.
The two teams will meet again on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. CT to wrap up the two-game set in Southaven.
