Hustle conclude home stand with 106–104 win over Ontario

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Hustle (3-6), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated the Ontario Clippers (3-5) 106-104 to conclude a five-game home stand at Landers Center. 

Matthew Hurt led the Hustle, totaling a career-high 36 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. David Johnson tallied 26 points. Timmy Allen added 15 points. DeJon Jarreau contributed 11 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. Davon Reed finished with nine points, nine rebounds and six assists.  

Jordan Miller paced the Clippers with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Bryson Williams contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds. Elijah Harkless added 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench. On assignment from the Clippers, Joshua Primo scored 14 points.  

After trailing by nine, the Hustle closed the first half on a 23-9 run to take a 56-51 halftime lead. The Hustle led by as many as 13 in the third quarter before the Clippers used a 20-6 run to pull ahead 103-98 with 3:23 remaining.  

Johnson made an eight-foot jumper to tie the game at 104 with 1:01 left and then sank the go-ahead free throws with 17.6 seconds remaining. Miller’s 3-pointer in the final seconds came up short. 

Memphis limited Ontario to just 8-of-36 shooting from beyond the arc. The Hustle tallied 20 fast break points. The game featured 19 lead changes and seven ties.  

The Hustle will hit the road for a two-game set against the Austin Spurs at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park starting Thursday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. CT.
