Hustle drop first game of road trip to Spurs

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Hustle (4-7), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, tipped off a four-game road trip with a 114-100 loss to the Austin Spurs (8-2).
Armando Bacot paced the Hustle with 21 points and seven rebounds. Miles Norris scored 20 points. Xavier Johnson notched his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 assists. Lucas Williamson contributed 14 points.
Malachi Flynn scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Spurs. Jamaree Bouyea totaled 22 points. Isaiah Miller added 20 points off the bench. Riley Minix tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Austin closed the first quarter on a 22-10 run to take a nine-point lead into the second quarter. The Spurs led by as many as 23 in the third quarter. Memphis used a 28-12 run to cut the Austin lead down to 102-95 with 3:16 remaining. Austin scored seven unanswered to pull away for the win.
Austin outrebounded the Hustle 47-36 and scored 22 second chance points. Memphis outscored the Spurs 52-46 in the paint.
The Hustle and Spurs will complete the back-to-back set in Austin tonight, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. CT at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
