Hustle extend winning streak to seven games with win over Gold

Southaven, Miss. – The Memphis Hustle (17-5), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated the Grand Rapids Gold (7-16) 107-96 on Tuesday night as the Hustle extended their winning streak to seven games.

The Hustle had seven players score in double-figures, led by Damien Jefferson, who secured his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sean McDermott finished with a team-high 16 points, including 10 points in the first quarter. Matt Hurt contributed 15 points and seven rebounds. Dakota Mathias tallied 13 points, five rebounds and seven assists. Jacob Gilyard flirted with a double-double, recording 15 points and nine assists. Terrell Brown Jr. added 14 points off the bench.

Jared Butler led the Gold with 24 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. Grant Golden scored 15 points and eight rebounds. Two-way transfer Jack White contributed 13 points and nine rebounds. Kellan Grady finished with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists. 

After trailing by one at the end of the first quarter, the Hustle started the second quarter on a 22-6 run to take a 15-point lead. The Hustle used a 9-0 run to start the second half and led by as many as 24 points in the third quarter.

The Hustle finished the night with a 24-point advantage from beyond the arc as they made 20 of their 49 attempts, while the Gold made just 12 of their 36 attempts. Memphis shot 44.2% from the field and assisted on 28 of their 38 field goals. The Hustle got 35 points from their bench with the Gold getting just 25 points from their reserves. 

Memphis will defend its seven-game winning streak against the Austin Spurs on Saturday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at Landers Center. The two-game series against the Spurs will wrap up a five-game home stand for the Hustle.
