Hustle Rally to defeat Spurs 115–114

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Hustle (4-6), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, overcame a 13-point deficit to defeat the Austin Spurs (5-4) 115-114 in the first of a two-game set in Texas.  

Matthew Hurt scored 33 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Hustle. DeJon Jarreau finished with 24 points, five rebounds and seven assists. David Johnson contributed 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Adonis Arms added 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench.  

Two-way transfer David Duke Jr. paced the Spurs with 22 points. RaiQuan Gray tallied 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Javante McCoy contributed 15 points off the bench.  

The Hustle scored the final seven points of the game after trailing 114-108 with 1:34 remaining. Timmy Allen’s layup with 16.7 seconds remaining proved to be the game-winner as McCoy’s 3-pointer at the final buzzer came up short.  

The Spurs outscored the Hustle 54-46 in the paint and 18-11 in second chance points. Both teams scored 22 points off turnovers. The game featured 24 lead changes and eight ties.  

The Hustle will complete the two-game set against the Spurs at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. CT.
