Hustle remain undefeated with win over Legends

Southaven, Miss. – The Memphis Hustle, the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, remained undefeated (4-0) with a 118-105 road win over the Texas Legends (2-3), as the two teams tipped-off a back-to-back set at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. This marked the first road contest of the regular season for the Hustle.

Vince Williams Jr. led seven Hustle players in double figures with 23 points and nine rebounds. Matt Hurt scored 17 points off the bench, while Dakota Mathias added 16 points. Kenneth Lofton Jr. posted his third double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to go with seven assists for Memphis, which is off to its best regular season start since winning the first 10 games of its 2019-20 campaign.

Taze Moore tallied 27 points and 13 rebounds to guide the Legends, who dressed only eight players in what was their second straight loss. Yudai Baba scored 22 points, while Tyler Hall added 21 points.

Memphis outscored Texas 43-29 in the second quarter, making 15 of its 21 shots in the frame. Hurt contributed 10 of the Hustle’s 26 bench points during the period, sinking all four of his field goal attempts and both attempts from 3-point range. The Hustle led by as many as 22 before halftime after shooting 56.2 percent overall and 48 percent from beyond the arc.

Texas managed to pull within 109-103 with 5:04 remaining, but the Hustle outscored the Legends 9-2 to end the game, including six points from Lofton Jr.

Memphis will complete its back-to-back with Texas at 4:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, Jan. 8, at Comerica Center.
