Hustle start back-to-back with victory over Mexico City

The Memphis Hustle (2-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, snapped a four-game losing streak with a 105-101 victory over the Mexico City Capitanes (1-3) in the first game of a back-to-back at Landers Center.

Two-way transfer GG Jackson II tallied 25 points and seven rebounds to pace the Hustle. Cameron McGriff scored 22 points and four steals, and David Johnson contributed 21 points and five rebounds to lead the bench. Adonis Arms added 12 points. Jason Preston chipped in with eight points, nine rebounds and nine assists. 

Trey Burke led the Capitanes with 29 points. Michael Carter-Williams tallied 20 points. Ethan Thompson added 19 points and seven rebounds. Maozinha Pereira contributed six points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. 

Memphis led by as many as nine points in the fourth quarter before Mexico City used a 25-16 run to tie the game at 101. Johnson made a pair of free throws to give the Hustle a 103-101 lead with 53.3 seconds remaining. After Arms stole the ball on the next possession, Jackson sank two more free throws with 11.3 seconds left to seal the win.

The game featured 13 ties and 11 lead changes. The Hustle scored 20 points off turnovers and outscored the Capitanes 40-32 in the paint. 

The Hustle wrap up the back-to-back against Mexico City at Landers Center at 7 p.m. CT tomorrow, Nov. 20.
