Hustle use strong fourth quarter to defeat G League Ignite

Southaven, Miss. – The Memphis Hustle (15-5), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated the G League Ignite (7-12) 116-114 on Thursday night as the Hustle won the first game of a back-to-back at Landers Center.

Kenneth Lofton Jr. notched his ninth double-double of the regular season, finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds. On assignment from the Grizzlies, Jake LaRavia notched 20 points including 15 in the first quarter. Ziaire Williams scored 17 points and five rebounds. Matt Hurt totaled 22 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Terrell Brown Jr. tallied 12 points and four assists. Jacob Gilyard dished out 11 assists, marking his 11th game with double-digit assists.

Sidy Cissoko scored a career-high 23 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists. Scoot Henderson finished with his second double-double of the season scoring 20 points to go along with 14 assists and seven rebounds. Leonard Miller notched his eighth double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds. John Jenkins added 18 points, making 3 of 11 attempts from beyond the arc. Mojave King chipped in 15 points off the bench for the Ignite.

The Ignite jumped out to an early eight-point lead, before a 31-14 run that extended into the second quarter saw the Hustle build their lead to 18 in the first half. The Ignite closed the first half on a 12-4 run, with a 26-12 run in the third quarter fueling them to a five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Hustle defense locked in throughout the final frame, going on a 17-8 run to come back and secure the victory. 

Lofton Jr. made the go-ahead layup with 1:45 remaining to start a 6-0 run that gave Memphis a 116-111 lead with 10 seconds left on the clock. The Hustle won the fourth quarter 28-21.

The Hustle had 23 assists on 37 made field goals. Memphis was able to score 19 points off 12 Ignite turnovers. The Hustle added 32 points from the free throw line, compared to just eight points for the Ignite. 

The win extended the Hustle win streak to five games, and the team has won for the sixth time in its last seven games. The Hustle and Ignite will meet again tomorrow at 7 p.m. to wrap up the back-to-back series in Southaven.
