Hustle win final game of Showcase Cup with comeback over Austin

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Hustle (5-9), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated the Austin Spurs (5-8) 117-116 in overtime to wrap up their Showcase Cup schedule.

David Johnson led the Hustle, totaling 26 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Matthew Hurt tallied 17 points and five rebounds. Jason Preston finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Two-way transfer GG Jackson II added 14 points and nine rebounds. Timmy Allen scored 11 points. Adonis Arms posted 10 points.

David Duke Jr. paced the Spurs scoring 27 points. Javante McCoy added 18 points and six rebounds. RaiQuan Gray contributed 16 points. On assignment from San Antonio, Sidy Cissoko had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

After trailing by as many as 13 points, the Hustle used an 18-5 run to tie the game at 98 in the fourth quarter. Erik Stevenson hit a triple for Austin with 0.4 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime, but Jackson II sank a free throw to get the Hustle to the target score of 117 and clinch the win.

Memphis assisted on 26 of 38 field goals. The Hustle scored 22 points off turnovers and outscored Austin 18-11 in second chance points. The Spurs outscored the Hustle 60-36 in the paint.

Memphis will head to Orlando, where the team will play two games during the NBA G League Winter Showcase.
