Memphis Hustle acquire returning player rights to Tremont Waters

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Hustle today announced the team acquired the returning player rights to guard Tremont Waters from the Santa Cruz Warriors for center EJ Onu.

Waters (5-10, 175), the 2019-20 NBA G League Rookie of the Year, has appeared in 65 regular season games with the Maine Red Claws, South Bay Lakers and Wisconsin Herd and 40 regular season games over three NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards since he was selected 51st overall in the 2019 NBA Draft out of LSU.

The 25-year-old, who played for the Grizzlies during the 2022 Salt Lake City Summer League and NBA Summer League 2022 in Las Vegas, currently competes for Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 in the LNB Pro A League in France, where he has started all 17 appearances and has averaged 17.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.00 steals in 28.8 minutes.

Onu (6-11, 240) appeared in nine games (five starts) and averaged 7.7 points and 2.6 rebounds in 17.9 minutes for the Hustle during the 2022 NBA G League Showcase Cup and totaled eight minutes in two games during the regular season. The 23-year-old Shawnee State product competed in 25 games (six starts) for Memphis last season and averaged 6.0 points, 3.7 rebounds in 2.20 blocks in 17.4 minutes.
