Memphis Hustle fall to Rio Grande Valley Vipers

Edinburg, Texas – The Memphis Hustle, the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 149-124 on Thursday night. 

Darius Days scored 28 points (11-17 FG, 6-10 3P) to lead five Vipers in double figures. Rio Grande Valley shot 54.3% (57-105 FG) from the field and 51.9% (28-54 3P) from 3-point range, hitting an opponent franchise-record 28 3-pointers.

Louis King added 22 points (8-15 FG, 4-9 3P), six rebounds and six assists for the Vipers, while Trevor Hudgins, TyTy Washington Jr. and Cassius Stanley tallied 20 points each. The Vipers outscored the Hustle 84-45 from 3-point range and forced Memphis into a season-high 29 turnovers, leading to28 points.

Kenneth Lofton Jr. (29 points, 10 rebounds) and Xavier Tillman Sr. (21 points, 10 rebounds) posted double-doubles for Memphis. Kennedy Chandler notched a double-double in his Hustle debut with 14 points and 10 assists. Vince Williams Jr. totaled 15 points and seven rebounds while Sean McDermott added 18 points off the bench.

The Vipers led wire-to-wire and stretched the lead to 38 points in the third quarter. Rio Grande Valley outscored Memphis 46-32 in the period while shooting 78.3% from the field and 83.3% from 3-point range in the third. Memphis won the fourth quarter 38-28 but never got within 20 points the rest of the way.

Memphis concludes its six-game road trip in a rematch with Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+.
