Memphis Hustle two-game win streak snapped by Mexico City

The Memphis Hustle, the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, saw their two-game winning streak snapped by the Mexico City Capitanes 126-112 on Tuesday night at Landers Center.
Mexico City never trailed tonight and withstood various challenges by Memphis. The Hustle would make a late charge at the end of the third quarter and carried it into the fourth, when they shrunk the deficit down to 10 points and trailed 97-87. But Mexico City would score 14 of the next 18 points between the two clubs, and eventually extended their lead to as much as 22 points.
Vince Williams Jr. led the Hustle in scoring with a career-high 29 points, on 10-15 shooting, including three 3-pointers. He also contributed with nine rebounds and four assists. Kenneth Lofton Jr. extended his streak of scoring 20+ points to seven straight and finished the night with 22 points and three blocked shots. For the fourth time this season, Justin Bean led the team in rebounding after corralling 11 against the Capitanes. Sean McDermott and Matt Hurt combined to score 25 points, and each made at least two 3-pointers. Kennedy Chandler chipped in with nine points and five assists.
Alfonzo McKinnie led all scorers tonight with 31 points and five made threes. McKinnie also notched his first double-double of the season, grabbing 11 rebounds. Former third overall pick, Jahlil Okafor also recorded a double-double on the night, his second of the season, after finishing with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Bruno Caboclo led all bench scorers with 19 points. Four of the five starters for the Capitanes scored in double figures.
The Hustle’s next game will be against the Birmingham Squadron at Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, AL. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7:00 p.m. CT.
