Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Hustle (2-5), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, were defeated 122-111 by the Birmingham Squadron (2-4).  

On assignment from the Grizzlies, Jake LaRavia tallied 20 points and five assists. David Johnson contributed 19 points and six assists. Matthew Hurt totaled 18 points and seven rebounds. DeJon Jarreau added 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists off the bench. Two-way transfer GG Jackson II netted 13 points. Davon Reed finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists. 

Jalen Crutcher led the Squadron with 24 points and nine assists. On assignment from the Pelicans, Kira Lewis Jr. scored 21 points. Devin Cannady netted 19 points off the bench. Malcolm Hill added 16 points. Trey Jemison contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds. Izaiah Brockington scored 11 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.  

The Hustle recovered from a 10-point deficit in the first quarter to take a 58-57 halftime lead. Birmingham scored eight straight in the third quarter to take a 13-point lead and led by as many as 16 in the second half. 

Birmingham outrebounded Memphis 53-40 and outscored the Hustle 56-44 in the paint.

The Hustle will host the Ontario Clippers on Sunday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. to continue their home stand.
