Team effort propels hustle past Spurs

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Hustle (5-7), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated the Austin Spurs (8-3) 100-96 to split the back-to-back set in Austin.
Armando Bacot led the Hustle with 17 points and 13 rebounds. David Johnson scored 16 points off the bench. Miles Norris contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds. Lucas Williamson totaled 12 points. Race Thompson added 11 points off the bench. Mãozinha Pereira tallied nine points and 11 rebounds.
Isaiah Miller paced the Spurs with 21 points off the bench. Malachi Flynn added 18 points. Riley Minix tallied 17 points and eight rebounds.
Memphis used a 14-5 third quarter run to push their lead to seven in the period. The Hustle stifled multiple second half runs by the Spurs to maintain their lead and hold on for the win.
The game featured 17 lead changes. Memphis outrebounded Austin 60-42 and scored 22 second chance points. The Hustle outscored the Spurs 48-40 in the paint. All 10 active Hustle players scored in the Memphis victory.
Memphis’ road trip continues as the Hustle head to Mexico City to battle the Capitanes in a back-to-back set starting on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. CT.
